29 кастрычніка 1939 года падчас грамадзянскай вайны Сесенья і суседні Эсківіяс сталі месцам узброенага сутыкнення паміж прыхільнікамі Франсіска Франка з аднаго боку, і рэспубліканскай арміяй з атрадам савецкіх ваенных спецыялістаў з другога.
